The book has 12 chapters. I found them easy to read, and their titles clearly explain what is covered in the book. I recommend you examine the Search Inside feature Amazon provides for this book so you can get a better picture of what is actually included in the book by examining the Table of Contents.
Time is always being spent. You can spend it wisely. You can be frugal with it. Or you can simply waste it by throwing it away. The bottom line is that time is valuable and you should try to maximize the benefits you can get from it.
The author in this book seems to group the use of time as being either productive or unproductive. I got the feeling that he thinks that time used unproductively is wasted and that treating it as such should be avoided. And he has written this book to help people who have 5 hours a week of unproductive time to capture it and make it productive. However, what is so magical about 5 hours? I would have liked the book better if the author had just told us he was trying to help the reader convert unproductive time into productive time assuming the reader needs to be more productive.
About a month ago I was informed that my oldest nephew was not a particularly good manager of his time. He was a sophmore in high school and was forgetting to do homework that had to be handed in. He also was missing deadlines on a few other things, too. This was not because he was lazy; it was because he was incredibly busy and had too much on his plate so to speak. I did a search on Amazon to find a good book on time management, schedule planning, deadlines, and appointments. As an attorney a long time ago I had learned how to keep and maintain a schedule planner (calendar system) and tickler file to stay on top of my appointments and deadlines. I know how the system should work, but I was not able to find a good book regarding the subject on Amazon that I could buy and give to my nephew. However, I was able to find a few articles pursuant to a Google search.
When I picked up the instant book I was hoping it would be the book I had looked for a month ago. While I found the instant book to be really good at touching on the ins, outs, and how-to's with regard to time management, I found it lacking in specific guidance as to how to keep and maintain a Personal Information Management system (PIM). And since in my humble opinion the adoption of a PIM system (whether in paper format, digital format offline, or digital format online) is critical to good time management, I found this book to not be worthy of a 5-star rating. It would have gotten 5 stars if it had felt a little more like a book instead of a mere outline of material AND gone into some depth discussing PIM systems. All in all, I found the book to be just a little too generic on the topic of time management. Most of what was included herein was simply common sense. 4 stars!
