As a new project manager I bought this book for a couple of reasons. One the interesting title ("Finish What You Start" and the subtitle (10 Surefire ways...). However I was disappointed to find the book did not hammer away at either of these ideas in a systematic way that I was expecting.
There is some useful advice in the book. One that comes to mind is getting
tasks started simultaneously and the earlier the better whenever possible. I thought the book was padded a bit by the example projects that the author had worked on. I found them boring and a labor to get through. There is a nice summary of advice in the last chapter that is worth reading and re-reading. They might even be the "ten surefire ways" that the subtitle refers to.
