The author emphasizes that "leaders are not born", they are developed over a period of time. This is confirmation that anyone in this universe can lead others. The author Dr. Marques clearly layout the details of the characteristics and qualities and behavioral traits any leader must exemplify. She discusses how one can forge ahead to becoming a leader even in a non-supportive environment and how to become awakened by your already existing capabilities and create your own leadership style. This author has some research/survey study results on leadership and what is valued the most. Overall the leader can't lead if no one is following, therefore it is imperative that future leaders build positive relationships among their peers, practice what they preach, walk the walk and lead by example to be great leaders and this book details on how to do those things.
